Blue Fish Energy ("we", "us", "our") is an independent business energy broker. We arrange gas, electricity and water contracts for business customers in the United Kingdom.
Blue Fish Energy is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. Our details are:

2. The information we collect
Information you give us
- Your name, company name, email address and phone number when you use a form on this website, call us or email us.
- Details about your business energy usage, current supplier, contract end dates, meter details and copies of bills you choose to send us.
- Anything else you tell us in a message, call or email.
Information we collect automatically
- Your cookie preferences (see section 9).
- If you allow analytics cookies: pages visited, time on page, the type of device and browser, and an anonymised (truncated) IP address, via Google Analytics.
- Standard server logs kept by our hosting provider, including IP address, browser and the pages requested, used for security and to keep the site running.
Information from other sources
- With your agreement, we may obtain your current contract details, usage history and meter data from your existing supplier or from industry data services, so that we can compare like for like.
3. How we use your information and our lawful basis

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making that has a legal or similarly significant effect on you.
4. Who we share it with
- Energy and water suppliers, so they can provide quotes and, if you proceed, set up your contract.
- Industry data services used to look up meter and supply details.
- Service providers who host this website and our email (currently Hostinger), and who provide our analytics (Google) if you have allowed analytics cookies.
- Professional advisers, regulators and law enforcement where we are required or permitted to do so by law.
We share only what is needed for each purpose, and our providers may use your information only on our instructions.
5. International transfers
Our website and email are hosted within the UK and European Economic Area. Google Analytics may process data in the United States; Google relies on the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses for those transfers. We only enable analytics if you consent.
6. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to a contract: up to 12 months from your last contact with us, so we can follow up if you asked us to.
- Customer records where we arranged a contract: for the life of the contract and 6 years afterwards, to meet legal and accounting obligations and to deal with any dispute.
- Cookie consent records: 12 months.
- Analytics data: 14 months in Google Analytics, after which it is deleted automatically.
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete your information, where we no longer need it.
- Object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use your information.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is our lawful basis.
- Ask for your information in a portable format.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.
8. Keeping your information secure
This website is served over HTTPS. Form submissions are emailed to a named mailbox on our own domain and are not stored on the web server. Access to customer information is limited to the people who need it to do their job.
9. Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use them as follows. Nothing other than the essential cookie is set until you make a choice in the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of every page.

Marketing cookies are not currently used on this site. If we introduce any, they will be listed here and switched off unless you allow them.
We keep an anonymised record of each cookie choice (the choice made, the date and time, the page, your browser type and a truncated IP address) so we can demonstrate that consent was given. We use Google Consent Mode, which means Google's tags are told your choice and behave accordingly.
You can also delete or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking the essential cookie means we cannot remember your choice, so the banner will show again on your next visit.
10. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change and update the date at the top. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
